Milky smooth skin!

A milky way to clear off dirt and dead skin cells from your pores.

This is the November 2018 addition to the Althea brand product range that features the combination of milk and bubble mask. It gives a good and gentle exfoliation without using any abrasive methods.

Althea said: "Give your skin a big gulp of hydration with the refreshing peeling powers of Althea's Milk Peel Cream Mask! Containing both AHA and BHA extracts, this gentle but effective exfoliator transforms from clay to a whipped cream lather, whisking away dead skin cells to prevent flakiness. It’s also formulated with casein protein from milk to revitalize and moisturize the skin. The result is radiantly smooth, healthy skin that's bouncy to the touch!"

I've received this set recently from Althea. It came with a Milk Peel Cream Mask product and a piece of folding-origami card that turns into a milk carton! It requires double-sided tape though.

Look how cute it looks! Sadly I am not advised to put milk in it because it will get all soaked up and will tear and shred into multiple tiny patches soaked in milk... Moving on!

When I first received it, the product title confused me because it's called a 'Peel Cream Mask' but it's not your ordinary peeling mask where you spread a layer of sticky paste to your face and peel it off once it's dried. I saw social media posts about this product and apparently, it's like one of those paste-turn-bubble masks. So I took the time to play with it during the photoshoot and oh my, this product smells so darn good. It smells like the baby formula but sweeter and soother.

 How to use

Step 1: Dampen the skin for smoother, easier and even application. (Not demonstrated below)

Step 2: Pump out a suitable amount that is enough to cover the area of your skin.

Step 3: Evenly spread out the mask and massage it until it reaches a rich lather form.

Step 4: Leave the mask on for 30-60 seconds before rinsing away with water. (Lukewarm water recommended)

Before you rinse it off, your mask is pretty foamy it's pretty fun to play with and if you rub everything off (without rinsing) then it will foam up again. Pretty impressive formula, I must say.

Go ahead have fun playing with the foam!

It's not an obvious result but my left hand did get smoother and brighter after using it.

Verdict

The first impression of this product isn't strong, not in a bad way. Mainly it's because the packaging was a little out of what I was expecting. Normally, a peeling mask bottle would look like a toothpaste tube. Not only that, this isn't a typical peeling mask because of it 'peels' off dirt and unwanted elements off the skin with a different approach.

Buttttttttttttttt, once I've tried it, I actually do like it. The scent reminds me of a sweet and soft baby product, like baby formula. It smells like sunshine and clouds or like a soft baby blanket washed with baby clothing detergent. The texture though, when applied on dry skin, its very thick and clay-like. When applied on damp skin, it turns into a soft lather layer. It bubbles up very quickly too! It also doesn't trigger my eczema prone skin, which is a good sign. It doesn't sting me or causes any irritations too.

Bonus: I can use this every day without any irritation! That's how gentle the formula is!

My boyfriend has pores, black head and white head issues. He told me that his dermatologists always have trouble pinching dirt out. He uses pore strips too but I can tell that they're not really working. So what I do is: I asked him to cleanse his face with a gentle cleanser first, then exfoliate with Onsaemeein Yogurt Peeling for dead skin removal so that I can extract dirt off his pores easier. Right after, I proceeded to pinch around his face (I have experiences, don't worry) and damnnnn I didn't even need to press hard and they came off easily. Immediately after, I told him to wash his face with Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask to cleanse his pores again. This is to make sure that the remaining stubborn blackheads/whiteheads are softened or can be removed on the next step, which is to apply Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask across his face for deeper cleansing throughout his pores. After rinsing it off, I sooth his face with Onsaemeein Perfect Moisture Cream. I can see positive results immediately after he completed this entire routine. Of course, there would still be small red patches here and there but if he's nice enough to his skin, he'll get nice skin like mine too :>

On the other hand, it's hard to tell whether it did anything to my pores or blackhead because... I don't have any :> I mean, nothing that's obvious enough. My skin has been really good lately and didn't cause my any trouble (I should blog about why) so I will not talk about blackheads and pores for my skin results. However, I can talk about the radiant glow it gave me. Two of the key features was moisturizing and revitalizing your skin, in which it did do a great job on that. My skin didn't feel tight after using (means it's less drying) but rather smooth and ready for the day/night!

Overall, this product is very easy to use. The only thing that I'm not used to is the pump. Sometimes it pumps out too much, sometimes a little less of what I needed but this isn't a big issue that will affect me. I personally like the idea of using this product after dirt extraction. If you have blackheads or whiteheads that are more stubborn, perhaps use this product daily for a few days before extracting them. This is just my suggestion and it may not work for certain individuals (important disclaimer).

    1. Hi!

I typically use it after cleansing. My routine is at such: Cleansing - Milk Peel Cream Mask - toner - moisturizer. I personally won't use it before cleanser :)
