Review | Etude House Cherry Blossom Dear My Lips-Talk Case & Dear My Glass Tinting Lips Talk

You know how (straight) couples walk around the mall? Usually, the men hold hands with the women with their (manly, alpha) hands on top but the women always get to pull them into cosmetic shops.

Well uh. Guilty? HAHHAHA I pulled my boyfie into Etude House in Sunway Pyramid after telling him that Flamingo Bloom is having a collaboration with them. (He loves milk tea.) By purchase a drink, you'll get a 10% discount in Etude House, vice-versa, if you purchased anything in Etude House, you'd get a 10% discount for Flamingo Bloom. After making a short math discussion, we'd settled with buying Flaming Bloom first, then Etude House.

Within a short walk into the shop, I showed him a few colours and gave him a few hints. He got me 3 products eventually. (Thank you 💕 gwah~) Two of them are mentioned in this blog post!

Among the remaining designs, my boyfie and I stared at the exact same design and he grabbed it before I did. "This looks great," he said. My eyes were widened and I exclaimed: "How did you know that's what I was looking at?!" 

I bet the saleslady was rolling her eyes in her head because we were so cliche HAHA. 

This case has a moon and petals floating like a blossoming day at night with the purple theme. It is a plastic material that is lightweight with printed design on it. Both ends have a metallic-looking cap. After seeing the sample units from the store, I believe that the printing would fade away as time passes.

The holder for the lipstick is also made in metal in order to secure the lipstick. It's not hard to remove the covers, you don't need to pull hard to open it.

Did you know that Etude House provides complimentary engraving services now? All you need to do is to purchase any lipstick casing, walk over to the Customizing Studio, present your receipt, fill up the engraving card and your engraving will be done in no time!

The engraving card allows you to customize preferred wordings (including spaces, numbers and symbols) a language (English, Korea, Malay), write in 10 characters OR choose from 8 8 Korean phrases such as "I love you", "Thank you", "Congratulations", and "Cutie". I forgot to take a picture of the card, oopsie!

How to use

The first thing you need to do is to pick the right colour for your lips (Dear My Glass/Matte Tinting Lips Talk) and style (Dear My Lips-Talk Case).

I choose lip colour and #37 Cherry Blossom Case! :D

Push the insert down into the casing until you hear the 'click' sound.

Verdict:

I really do like the idea of selecting your own casing, colour and engraving. You get to pick over 20 choices of casing and 20 choices of lip colours that has different finishing. This idea helps to maintain the reminiscences of the gifting moment. Although, it would be best if the inserts (lipstick container) would be recollected and recycled. Maybe they have such a but I didn't see any news about it so far. Also, if you want to use the same casing but a different colour, you can always take the lipstick insert out and put a cap on it before replacing it with another colour.

Smell: It smells just like the pink/strawberry flavour Sugus Fruit Flavoured Chews

Texture: The lipstick is solid and gliding is very easy

Colour payoff: A light swipe will be enough to see the colours popping out

I really do like the smell as it reminds me of my childhood time when I constantly snack on Sugus candies, resulting cavaties-filled teeth. The lipstick is solid enough for you to glide it without fear of breaking it. It is so easy to glide onto the lips with that smooth, glossy consistency and it blends with the lips so well without looking patchy. The colour payoff is really well-done and it fits softly on my lips too.

The durability of the lipstick colour lasts pretty well but the glossiness goes off slightly quicker. The scent, however, does not stay onto your lips after application. It is stronger to smell from the lipstick itself though. There's no taste to the lipstick. Overall, it's a really decent lipstick with sentimental values attached to it through engraved texts.

Reason: Quite honestly, I don't mind to repurchase the case with different lip colours and finishing but I think they are easily replaceable. Not the idea with the removable lipstick and changeable casing though. It's a good one. It does take a lot of effort and inventory so you won't see that many companies would imitate it.
